Yummy Homemade Pound Cake


3 cups sugar 3 cups plain flour 5 eggs 1 cup Crisco Shortening 1 cup buttermilk 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp lemon flavoring 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda


Separate egg yolks and whites Whip egg whites until stif peaks form Set aside

Cream sugar, Crisco shortening, egg yolks, buttermilk, & flavorings. Add salt and baking soda to the flour. Add flour mixture a little at a time.

Gently fold in the beaten egg whites Fold - not stir

Spoon into prepared pan

Bake at 300 for an hour to an hour and 10 min

Serve plain or top with a glaze

Great with strawberries, peaches and whipped cream!
