How to Make a Ribbon Sash for a Wreath (That Looks Tied On)
Have you ever noticed those simple evergreen wreaths that don’t have big bows — just a beautiful ribbon sash for a wreath that looks perfectly tied on? I love that clean, effortless look… but every time I tried tying ribbon onto a wreath myself, it somehow came out looking not quite right. And before long, I’d give up and make a bow instead.
Turns out, there’s a much easier way.
This little ribbon sash trick is quick, simple, and gives you that tied-on look without actually tying anything at all. No bow maker, no frustration — just a clean, finished look that works beautifully on boxwood, grapevine, and everyday wreaths.
Watch the short video below and I’ll show you exactly how it’s done.
A Quick Change Was All It Took
The wreaths on our side entrance were still wearing their big Christmas bows, so this morning I swapped both of them out in less than ten minutes.
Now that’s my kind of crafting. Not every project needs to be an all-day affair — sometimes you just want a quick, one-and-done update that makes everything feel fresh again.
You can absolutely make this ribbon sash your own. Use 4″ or 2.5″ ribbon, mix multiple ribbons, go with longer tails, shorter tails — whatever floats your boat. I’ll probably leave this gold and neutral check ribbon up until I start craving a little more spring or Easter. Until then… easy ribbon sashes are definitely the way to go.
One last thing — I just checked and this ribbon is still in stock at Trendy Tree, but supplies are getting low. If you love this gold and neutral check as much as I do, you might want to grab it while it’s still available.

Simple projects, quick updates, and no bow frustration — that’s a win in my book.
