Bird Nest in my Front Door Wreath
I was looking at the wreath on my front door the other day and noticed some pine straw sticking out of it. My first thought was that all the recent wind and thunderstorms must have blown it in there. But the more I looked, the more it seemed too neat to be random.
So I took a peek at the back of the wreath, behind the sign, and there it was — a neatly formed bird nest in the wreath, tucked right into the mesh. It was empty. Whatever baby birds had hatched there had already flown the coop.
What to Do If a Bird Nests in Your Wreath
I decided to just leave the nest alone. If you ever notice a bird built a nest in your wreath, my advice is the same — leave it be, especially once the babies have fledged and it’s empty like mine was. I’ll go on wreathing the wreath as usual until it’s time to switch it out for a new seasonal design, nest and all.
It made me smile, though. Even while we’re busy hanging a wreath on the front door, that same decor can end up serving a second purpose we never planned on — a quiet little spot for a bird to raise her family.
