Light Breakfast, Heavy Heart: Fall Morning Reflection
This morning, I whipped up a quick and simple parfait made with creamy Greek yogurt, fresh berries, and a handful of nuts. It was the perfect light breakfast, satisfying without being too heavy. The sweet burst of the berries paired with the richness of the yogurt made for a refreshing and energizing start to the day. It’s a go-to meal for me on mornings like this, when I want something easy yet nourishing.
Sitting here, enjoying my breakfast, the peacefulness of the morning sinks in, allowing me to pause and reflect.
Fall Morning Reflection
As I finish my breakfast and reflect on the stillness of this fall morning, I’m reminded of how important it is to be thankful for the blessings in my life. While I wasn’t able to attend church this morning due to waking up with conjunctivitis—commonly known as “pink eye”—the quiet of the day has given me time to think.
As I sit here, the peacefulness of the morning contrasts with the heartbreaking devastation caused by the recent storms, Helena and Milton. My heart aches for those whose lives have been torn apart in just a few short weeks. So many loved ones have been lost or remain unaccounted for. So many families are left picking up the pieces of shattered homes and lives.
It’s easy to say that possessions can be replaced, but I’m sure that feels far from true when you’ve lost everything that made your house a home. In our own community, we’ve seen the impact of tornadoes through the years and ice storms, though we’ve been fortunate. During Katrina, we lost nearly 20 trees, but our home remained untouched—a blessing I never take for granted.
As we count our blessings, we must keep those affected in our thoughts, prayers, and actions. Please consider donating to the disaster relief efforts of your choice. Our church has a disaster fund, and we’ve been able to help through that. But any contribution to those in need can make a difference.
As I reflect on the stillness and beauty of this fall morning, I’m reminded of how important it is to be thankful for the blessings in my life—especially my husband, family, and friends. From the beauty of nature around me to the safety and comfort of my home, there is so much to be grateful for. It’s easy to take these things for granted, but today serves as a reminder to appreciate them even more. While my heart breaks for those enduring unimaginable loss, I’m reminded to hold my loved ones close and cherish every moment we have together. Gratitude for my blessings, family, and friends, along with offering help and prayers for those in need, should always guide my steps forward.
Beautiful post, it is easy to forget how blessed we are. Thank you for reminding me to be thankful.
