Pastel Christmas Tree Inspiration from the Dallas Market

pastel Christmas tree from the Liberty Floral showroom at the Dallas Market, decked out in pink, mint, light blue Christmas decorations

Pastel Christmas trees are such a refreshing twist on holiday decorating, and I found the perfect example at the Dallas Market. In the Liberty Floral showroom, a flocked white tree was decorated with soft shades of pink, mint green, and light blue — whimsical and elegant all at once.

I didn’t get a photo of the entire tree, but I did capture a short video that shows more of the details. I’ll be sharing that here so you can see why it caught my eye and maybe spark some inspiration for your own holiday decorating this year.

Why Pastels Work for Christmas

Pastel colors may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to Christmas, but they bring such a refreshing charm to holiday decorating. Soft pinks, mint greens, and icy blues create a dreamy, serene look that feels both whimsical and elegant. On a flocked tree, pastels pop against the snowy white branches, almost like ornaments dusted in sugar.

Pastels also give you flexibility — they can lean playful and candy-inspired, or soft and sophisticated, depending on how you style them. For anyone who wants to step away from the traditional red and green, pastels offer a light, cheerful alternative that still feels festive and magical.

Decorating Tips for a Pastel Christmas Tree

  • Pair with metallics – Silver, gold, or champagne accents add sparkle and keep pastels from looking too soft or flat.
  • Choose light, airy ornaments – Glass balls, frosted finishes, and shimmery textures highlight the dreamy vibe.
  • Layer in ribbon – Satin or organza ribbon in pastel shades adds flow and softness throughout the tree.
  • Mix in neutrals – White flocking, ivory, or even soft gray helps pastels stand out without overwhelming.
  • Add whimsical touches – Candy canes, lollipops, or whimsical sprays work beautifully with pastel themes for a candyland look.

Common Mistakes to Avoid with Pastel Christmas Trees

  • Using only one pastel shade – A tree with just pink or just mint can fall flat. Mix several pastels (pink, mint, icy blue, lavender) for a layered look.
  • Skipping contrast – Pastels shine best when paired with neutrals or metallics. Without balance, the tree can look washed out.
  • Overcrowding the tree – Pastel ornaments are delicate; too many heavy or oversized pieces can overwhelm the design.
  • Forgetting texture – Add in ribbons, feathery picks, or frosted ornaments for dimension and interest.
  • Not tying it all together – Make sure your topper, ribbon, and base (like a tree skirt or collar) carry the pastel theme to complete the look.
