From Christmas to Cupid: Reuse Christmas Decorations for Valentine’s Decor!

reuse some of your Christmas decorations for Valentine before you pack them away

The twinkling lights and festive ornaments of Christmas bring joy, but as the holiday season fades, it doesn’t mean those decorations need to gather dust for the rest of the year. Reuse some of your Christmas decorations for Valentine’s decor.

The Versatility of Christmas Decorations

Many Christmas decorations possess qualities that make them perfect candidates for a Valentine’s makeover. Red, pink, or white ball ornaments are good examples of items to reuse. Even black and white is perfect for Valentine’s decor. Bright shiny gold or silver are other colors that transform well into Valentine’s Decor.

Consider the fairy lights on your tree or the wreath on your door. They bring a cozy glow that easily fits a romantic Valentine’s vibe.

Revamping Wreaths and Ornaments

Let’s start with wreaths—the classic symbol of festive cheer. Try replacing red holly berries with red glitter hearts, adding some red ribbons, or artificial flowers in shades of pink, red, and white. Your Christmas wreath can be turned into a pretty Valentine’s wreath for your front door.

Trendy Tree has tons of Valentine’s signs with sweet sayings. Here’s an example, but there are many more to choose from.

Keep Your Christmas Tree Up? Yes!

If you used an artificial Christmas tree, green or flocked, you can keep it up for Valentine’s Day too! I think a white flocked tree is prettier for Valentine’s but green works too! An old-fashioned silver tinsel tree would be pretty too))

Here are a couple of examples of trees I saw in a showroom at the Dallas market. One was actually a Christmas tree decorated in pink, red, and white, but you could just pull out the Christmas-specific decorations and turn it into a Valentine’s tree easily.

Lighting the Valentine’s Spirit

Another way to reuse Christmas decorations for Valentine’s decor is string lights. These tiny little lights are the heart of Christmas ambiance, and they can also illuminate your Valentine’s decor too. Teenagers love to twist them around a headboard or in their room somewhere. They look nice draped across a mantelpiece. You might also consider intertwining red or pink ribbons among the lights for an added romantic touch. The soft glow will create an enchanting atmosphere perfect for a cozy evening atmosphere.

Another nice way to dress up your mantel is to place framed photos of your loved ones using pretty Valentine frames. You can even use vintage Valentines from days past.

Crafting Valentine’s Art

Who doesn’t love to get those sweet Valentine’s Day cards from children made out of construction paper and paper doilies! This is a great time to sit around a table on a cold winter day and create some beautiful cards. You can even get heart-shaped paper doilies.

I don’t have any little ones around to make cards anymore, but it was fun back in the day for sure.

If you have ever made “salt dough” Christmas cookie ornaments to hang on a tree, you can make Valentine ornaments too! Heart-shaped cookie cutters are easy to find and you can use them in your paper crafts for outlining. I’ll list some affiliate links for some products at the bottom of the page.

Your DIY skills can breathe new life into your Christmas decor. Consider repurposing pinecones from your Christmas displays by painting them red, pink, or white and arranging them in a decorative bowl or stringing them together to create a unique garland. These simple crafts can serve as beautiful accents for your Valentine’s decor.
