Pom Pom Wreath Craft for Kids – A Colorful Idea Spotted at Market

If you’re looking for a pom pom wreath craft for kids, here’s a fun idea I spotted at the Dallas Market. It’s too cute not to share! A wreath covered in soft pastel pom poms instantly made me think of my great-nieces, ages 3 and 5. It’s such a simple, colorful project little ones would love. There was even a pom pom carrot ornament that would be perfect for Easter down the road. It may be early, but it’s never too soon to start saving sweet craft ideas for the seasons ahead!

Sweet Summer Crafting with Kids

My grandchildren are all grown now, and I really miss having little ones around to craft with! So when I get the chance to spend time with a couple of my great-nieces, I love to have a little project ready. This summer, we made small floral arrangements together. They picked out their own flowers and little bee and butterfly picks. The final creations turned out just as cute as can be! 😊

Pom Pom Wreath Inspiration from Market

So when I saw this cute pom pom wreath at the Dallas Market, my first thought was, “That would be a great Christmas project for Millie Kate and Caroline!” 😊 I snapped a quick photo so I wouldn’t forget. Today, I started thinking more about how we could actually make this happen. I think I’ve come up with a simple plan to pull it off. Here’s what I’m thinking:

Supplies

Wreath Form

I’m thinking we’ll use a pool noodle as the base. To make it sit flat against the wall, we can slice off a section from the back so it has a flat edge. Then we’ll cut it to the length we need and form it into a circle, securing the ends with duct tape or strong packing tape. It should be super lightweight, but if there’s any concern about it holding together, we could always insert a short wooden dowel into the center to give it a little extra support. It might take two pool noodles depending on the size of the wreath, but that’s easy enough to figure out once we start shaping it.

Pom Poms

Pom poms come in all sizes—from tiny to jumbo—and in both solid and multicolor bags. I have a feeling the toughest part of this project will be letting the girls choose which colors they want to use! The wreath I saw at market used pastel pom poms arranged in a pattern, which was super cute. So I’ll probably grab a couple of mixed or Christmas color bags, along with a bag of pastels, just to give them options. I’m not exactly sure how many we’ll need, so I’ll try to buy them locally in case I need to run back for more.

Attachment

If I were making the pom pom wreath on my own, I’d just grab the hot glue gun and get it done in no time. But since little fingers are involved, we’ll stick with Tacky Glue—it should work just fine! It might take a bit longer to dry, but it’s a much safer option and removes any risk of burned fingers. Plus, part of the fun is letting them take their time and enjoy the process!

Bow or Not?

We can always decide on the bow later, but I think it would be really cute with one of those soft, droopy bows made from velvet or satin. Trendy Tree just got in some beautiful unwired 1″ ribbon the other day that would be perfect for this! It’s a sweet finishing touch if the girls want to add a little flair—or we might just keep it simple. Either way works!

And About That Carrot…

As for the carrot, we’d definitely need orange pom poms and a little sprig of greenery for the top. The body shape is still up for debate—I’ll need to think on that a bit more. A cone-shaped Styrofoam form might be a little too structured (and probably larger than we’d want). I may try trimming down a leftover pool noodle and shaping it into a rough carrot form. I’m sure I’ve got some greenery in my stash that could be poked into the top to finish it off. More to come on the carrot idea—still letting that one simmer! 🥕😊

Time to Start Gathering Supplies!

I’d better get busy and start gathering supplies for our pom pom wreath! I’ll check out Dollar Tree, Walmart, and Dollar General first. If I have no luck there, I’ll head to Amazon if I can’t find what I need. Have you made anything with pom poms before? I’d love to hear your tips or ideas if you’ve tried a project like this!

    1. Thank you Deborah))) I found a couple of pool noodles today, but not puffy balls. I haven’t shopped Walmart yet, but I’ll probably wind up ordering the pom poms off Amazon.
