Quick and Easy Strawberry Protein Smoothie

Strawberry Protein Smoothie

As I promised! I’m sharing my recipe for a delicious strawberry protein smoothie. It passed the “Matt” test this morning, so I figured it was safe to post)))

It only took a few minutes to make the smoothie since I had prepared the frozen fruits ahead of time. And even though the strawberry protein smoothie has a whole banana, you can’t taste it. I think it just adds to the creamy consistency.

And one thing I like about this recipe so far is that you can just change up the frozen fruit and instead of strawberry, have pineapple or peaches. Of course, if I did that I would change the flavored drink mixes to go along with the fruit.

I picked up some frozen lemonade and orange juice concentrate yesterday. I can’t wait to experiment with them. I love Chick-fil-A’s lemonade frosties, so I’m working toward something that tastes like that.

Instructions

  • In a blender, combine a vanilla protein shake, frozen strawberries, a frozen banana, yogurt, and drink mixes. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Notes

This smoothie makes more than 32 ounces, which is usually too much for one person to drink at once. So, I divide it into three 16-ounce cups.
I’ve put the extra servings in the freezer. When I’m ready to enjoy them, I thaw them slightly by microwaving for 10-15 seconds, then stir well or blend them in a small Ninja blender (single serving size).

Why Protein Shakes?

I did a post yesterday about the benefits of protein shakes or smoothies. And I can say from experience,, even though it’s only been a few days, that when I have something like the strawberry protein smoothie in the morning….I’m not that hungry at lunchtime. Now I don’t know if they will contribute to any weight loss or at least hopefully no further weight gain. But they do seem to satisfy my appetite.

So much of our eating or snacking is a habit! We don’t have to be hungry to eat at a meal or grab a handful of cookies or candy. Bad habits are hard to break for sure. But I’m trying!

More Smoothies Coming Up!

My next experiment will be with a Premier Protein Chocolate Shake. I have ideas for just a plain chocolate protein smoothie or maybe chocolate-peanut butter. I’ll keep you updated!
