Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie Recipe
Quick & Easy
I made a chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie for Matt one day this week. This is a newly created recipe, I just added this and that to a Premier Protein Chocolate Shake. I “doctored” it up so to speak and it passed the “Matt test”))))
I call this “quick and easy” because I prepped the frozen ingredients in advance. It only takes a few minutes to prepare the bananas and fruit for the freezer, making smoothie prep a breeze. When you’re ready, just toss everything in the blender and let it work its magic.
Ingredients You’ll Need
1 box Premier Protein Chocolate Shake
2 T Great Value Powdered Peanut Butter
1 Frozen Banana (slices)
1/2 cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt
2 T Great Value Chocolate Flavored Syrup (sugar-free)
2 T Davinci Coconut Syrup (sugar-free)
1 cup Ice
Blender
Just dump all the ingredients into a blender and turn it on. Every blender is not created the same of course, but I use a Ninja blender that has the ability to crush ice.
Personal Preferences
If the chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie is too thick for your liking, you can always thin it with a little milk. And if you had rather you can try blending without the ice. However, if you add the ice later, it tends to be more difficult to crush smoothly. You may get little chunks of ice in your drink.
Another thing you can do is use a fresh banana instead of a frozen one. I slice my bananas ahead of time and store in the freezer in individual bags. Just break them apart a little and toss in the blender.
Toppings are Optional
Drink or spoon the chocolate peanut butter smoothie as is, or top with some whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa or sprinkle of chocolate. I like to keep a Hershey candy bar in the freezer just for some quick shavings. Chocolate sprinkles would be delicious too. Hmmm toasted coconut is another idea for topping, I need to get on that)))
Servings
This chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie recipe yields two 16oz shakes. It makes a little less than the strawberry protein smoothie because it doesn’t have that extra cup of frozen fruit. But honestly, 16oz is still a little much for me at a sitting. Sometimes I divide them up into 9oz cups and put extras in the freezer.
Speaking of the freezer, they only need a little thaw time in the microwave. About 15-30 seconds will do it. This morning I refreshed a 16oz strawberry smoothie from the freezer by setting the microwave for 30 sec, added about a tablespoon or two of almond milk and reprocessed in a small (one serving size) Ninja blender. It tasted just as good as the fresh version.
So, this gives me a thought! I could make several smoothies and store them in the freezer……that way I won’t have to get up so early!
More Smoothies to Come!
If this chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie sounds good to you, stay tuned! I also have a pineapple protein smoothie that is really delicious. I’ll work on that post next))). And Matt just suggested a chocolate strawberry smoothie…..sounds good doesn’t it!
