Simple Christmas Centerpiece
Repost Note
I’m bringing back this simple Christmas centerpiece idea because it’s just too good not to share again — and honestly, it could work beautifully for fall too. 🍂 With a few easy swaps like pinecones, mini pumpkins, or gourds, you could turn this same concept into a warm, seasonal display for your table or entryway.
Decorating Years Ago
When our daughter was growing up, our Christmas decorating was simple — mostly just a tree. But once the grandchildren came along, everything changed! We started adding all the things kids love: gingerbread and peppermint, cheerful elves and Santas, snowmen, cute little animals, and plenty of handmade ornaments and garlands. Before long, there were decorations tucked just about everywhere. 🎄
And one thing I’ve learned — never say never when you have grandchildren! I used to swear we’d never have blow-ups in the yard… well, you can probably guess how that turned out. 🎅😂
We lived out in the country while the grandkids were growing up, with a big front yard and an even bigger backyard. The house sat way off the highway, so we had plenty of room for decorating — and we made the most of it! There were lighted deer, Santas, and snowmen scattered across the yard. The kids loved it, and honestly, we did too.
And it didn’t stop at Christmas! At Halloween, we went all out with ghosts, Frankenstein, and skeletons — one even lounging in the pool on a float and another swinging from the tire swing. It was pure fun from start to finish. 🎃✨

Fast Forward to Decorating Now
Our grandchildren are all grown now — the youngest is already 17 — and my decorating style has changed right along with the seasons of life. These days, I keep things simpler and decorate in a way that feels more like me. I lean toward natural touches with lots of greenery, red flowers, and berries — classic, timeless, and easy to enjoy. 🌿❤️
Here’s a simple Christmas centerpiece that fits just about anywhere — the living room, dining table, or even the back porch. It was quick, easy to put together, and adds just the right touch of holiday charm wherever it lands. 🎄
The wooden bowl was the perfect container for a simple Christmas centerpiece. It has held so many different seasonal decorations. It’s one of those spots in your home where you can add a touch of seasonal decor without too much trouble.
Simplicity is the name of the game for me at retirement age. I do not relish getting up into the attic anymore to drag down decorations or put them away. We have grandchildren for that, but honestly, it’s time to stop putting anything in the attic. I know that, it’s just hard not to do it!
Putting it Together
Place any sort of artificial greenery in the basket and add some twigs of red berries. I got the big red berry balls from Trendy Tree, and the greenery came from there too, but I think it’s sold out now.
I’m a huge fan of re-purposing! I’ve probably used these same berry branches and greenery for 3-4 years, in different projects around the house at Christmastime.
The berry balls are new for me this year, as are the white candle holders. The tapers came from Hobby Lobby. They are battery-powered and have timers! All I had to do was turn them on at whatever time of the day I wanted them to come on. They stay on for several hours and turn off, then back on again at the same time the next day. It sure beats hunting a remote! The candles are an ivory color, I would have preferred white, but it’s okay.
