Simple Christmas Centerpiece
A simple Christmas centerpiece is one of my favorite ways to decorate for the holidays. This simple arrangement was quick and easy to put together and I mostly used leftover items!
Decorating Years Ago
When our daughter was growing up, we didn’t do any sort of lavish decorations, just mainly a Christmas tree. But when the grandchildren started coming along, we put more effort into our decorations. We decorated with things the kids would like….gingerbread and peppermint….elves, Santas, snowmen, and cute animals, handmade ornaments, and garlands, with decorations everywhere.
And never say never to anything, when you have grandchildren! I always said we would NEVER have blowups in our yard…..well, as I say, never say never.
We lived out in the country while they were growing up and we had a big front yard and back yard. The house was way off the highway. So, we had lighted deer…..Santas, and Snowmen. They loved it, and we loved doing it for them. We did it at Halloween too! We had ghosts, Frankenstein, skeletons sitting on the tire swing and lavishing in the pool on a float. It was fun))

Fast Forward to Decorating Now
Our grandchildren are 22, 20, and 15. My decorations have become simpler and more of what I want to decorate with. So it’s mostly all-natural-looking things with lots of greenery, red flowers, and berries.
Here’s a simple Christmas centerpiece that works for the living area, or I can use it on the dining table, or even on the back porch. It was quick and easy to put together.
The wooden bowl was the perfect container for a simple Christmas centerpiece. It has held so many different seasonal decorations. It’s one of those spots in your home where you can add a touch of seasonal decor without too much trouble.
Simplicity is the name of the game for me at retirement age. I do not relish getting up into the attic anymore to drag down decorations or put them away. We have grandchildren for that, but honestly, it’s time to stop putting anything in the attic. I know that, it’s just hard not to do it!
Putting it Together
Place any sort of artificial greenery in the basket and add some twigs of red berries. I got the big red berry balls from Trendy Tree, and the greenery came from there too, but I think it’s sold out now.
I’m a huge fan of re-purposing! I’ve probably used these same berry branches and greenery for 3-4 years, in different projects around the house at Christmastime.
The berry balls are new for me this year, as are the white candle holders. The tapers came from Hobby Lobby. They are battery-powered and have timers! All I had to do was turn them on at whatever time of the day I wanted them to come on. They stay on for several hours and turn off, then back on again at the same time the next day. It sure beats hunting a remote! The candles are an ivory color, I would have preferred white, but it’s okay.

Easy Christmas Mantel Decor
The older I get, the simpler my decorations get! This year I decided to just go with natural greens and red products. My flocked tree is covered with red blooms, berries, and green leafy picks, so I carried this same theme to my mantel ……
