Bahama Mama Loaded Tea: A Bright, Refreshing Favorite
Some drinks just make you smile—and this Bahama Mama Loaded Tea is one of them! It’s bright, it’s tropical, and it’s quickly become a favorite when my grandkids (now all grown up!) drop by. Maggie especially loves this one for its fun, layered look and refreshing taste. Matt? He’s usually up for anything, but since he’s still a teenager, I tend to leave out the extra caffeine in his drinks and just focus on the flavor. Either way, they both love it when I “fix them up something.”
This recipe comes from the Silver Lining Lessons collection—an excellent resource for loaded teas, protein shakes, and flavored waters you can make right at home. You can check out the original Bahama Mama Loaded Tea recipe here.
Bahama Mama Loaded Tea
Bahama Mama is a bright and tropical tea blend made with orange, pineapple, and cherry limeade flavors. It’s bursting with fruity goodness and layered colors that make it almost too pretty to drink—almost! This one’s a go-to for warm, sunny days and makes the perfect poolside sipper as the weather heats up.
With just a few minor adjustments, you can turn Bahama Mama Loaded Tea into a flavored water—perfect for a lighter option or for those avoiding caffeine. Here are the simple instructions, as shared by Silver Lining Lessons.
How I Keep My Tea-Making Setup Ready to Go
If you enjoy making your own loaded teas—or think you might want to start—I highly recommend checking out the Silver Lining Lessons website. It’s a fantastic resource, and it’s been such a fun journey collecting flavors and experimenting with new combos.
I’ve even recruited family members to help track down some of the harder-to-find drink mixes! These days, my pantry proudly holds a whole shelf stocked with flavors, tea powders, and tools.
Let’s be honest—if you’re going to make teas, you need the right utensils. I keep everything tucked neatly into a plastic tubby, which makes it easy to pull out when it’s time to mix. You’ll also want some “to go” cups on hand for when the grands stop by with a tea craving.
And yes, I even deliver! I often take teas over to Carrie and Taalor at the Trendy Tree warehouse. Carrie found me a 32 oz cup carrier on Amazon, and let me tell you—it’s made those little tea runs so much easier (and a lot safer). 😂

32 oz Reuseable Cups – These are my go-to cups for making loaded teas at home. They come with sturdy straws and screw-on lids that stay put—no spills here! They’re super durable, which is why I don’t let them leave the house as “to go” cups. 😂

Waka Flavored Instant Teas – These teas dissolve quickly, come in a variety of great flavors, and make an excellent base for loaded teas. When I first started, I used the Waka Green Tea in just about every recipe—but now I buy the assorted packs so I can mix things up. They’ve lasted me for months and give me plenty of options when the flavor inspiration strikes!

Where to Find Drink Mix Flavors
You can find a great variety of drink mix flavors just by browsing the drink mix aisles. Check out grocery stores, convenience stores, dollar stores, Walmart, and similar spots. I’ve noticed that more flavors tend to pop up in the summer months, so that’s the perfect time to stock up. Amazon is always an option for hard-to -find flavors. But keep in mind, you might have to buy them in multipacks, which can get a bit pricey. I started with recipes that used flavors I had on hand, then added the harder-to-find ones over time.
A Note About Sweeteners
One thing I’ve become more mindful of is the sweeteners used in drink mix packets. Most are sweetened with aspartame, and I do have some concerns about that. Lately, I’ve been making an effort to find flavors that are sweetened with stevia instead. Two good options I’ve come across are True Lemon, which is widely available, and GramZero, which is a bit harder to find and more expensive—but it’s nice knowing it doesn’t contain aspartame. It’s all about finding the balance that works best for you and your family.
Exploring loaded teas—especially fun ones like the Bahama Mama loaded tea—has been such a refreshing and creative hobby. I love trying new flavors, mixing up combos, and using different tools to make it easier. But the best part? The grandkids stop by more often, knowing a cold, flavorful drink is usually waiting. Do I mind that? Not one bit. 😊
