Crafting a Rustic Grapevine Wreath for Autumn
Making a beautiful rustic grapevine wreath for fall is easier than it looks! With a few simple steps, you can turn a plain grapevine base into a charming seasonal decoration for your home. This guide will show you how to bundle colorful fall flowers, attach them to the side of the rustic grapevine wreath, and finish with a simple bow in the center. It’s a fun and rewarding DIY project, perfect for welcoming guests or celebrating the season.
Choosing the Best Fall Florals for Your Grapevine Wreath
Trendy Tree has simplified making this rustic grapevine wreath for you! The supplies (not including the grapevine wreath) are bundled today to make it easy to shop. The Fall Floral Bundle contains all the sprays and a full roll of ribbon used in this design.
But if you would rather pick some other florals, you will find hundreds of fall sprays and picks to choose from at Trendy Tree.

Step-by-Step: Bundling and Attaching Florals to the Wreath
I like to place two of the longer sprays end to end, leaving a gap large enough for bow placement. Then fill in with the other florals working as evenly as possible. Such as placing an element on the upper portion of the bundle, and then placing a similar or the same one on the lower portion.
Manipulate the stems by spreading them out or curving them. You want some of the florals to be gently curved, some pointing to the inside of the wreath and others to the outside, some more straight out. Flowers in nature don’t grow straight up but you’ll find plastic pick and spray stems straight as an arrow))
For the rustic grapevine wreath, we only used one long green floral stem as the base. But it had three pieces on it so we cut one piece off and positioned it on the bottom with the upper portion curving slightly to the grapevine.
It’s easier to make a bundle with two identical long sprays, secured together with zip ties. When using shorter stems as in this wreath, you will have to secure pieces in a couple of places with zip ties. Be sure to snip off the ends of your zip ties with wire cutters, and not your scissors. In hindsight, I see where I slipped up one time and snipped with Carrie’s scissors. That’s a no-no!
Secure the floral bundle to the grapevine wreath using binding wire or floral wire. Binding wire (brown paper-wrapped wire) works perfectly for grapevine wreaths. It just blends in with the twigs and doesn’t show at all. Make a wreath hanger with binding wire also. I’ll post a link to Amazon for the binding wire we used. I was hesitant to take my binding wire to the shop because I ordered it for home. Carrie will confiscate it!
Adding the Finishing Touch: Tying a Simple Bow in the Center
The rustic grapevine wreath doesn’t call for much of a bow. A couple of simple loops with long tails would suffice. But I made one with the EZ Bowmaker which makes bow-making so much easier. It holds your ribbon in place and has measurements so that you can keep your loops the same. You could also free-hand a bow too.
Secure the bow with binding wire and you’re all set! Hang the wreath up stand back and take a look. You may find that you need to tweak a stem here or there. We had a few leaves left over, and had we been using hot glue, I would have found a place for them. Next time, I think Carrie wants to make a grapevine wreath using florals, a sign, and hot glue. That should be interesting)))

Why I Love the Floral Bundle Technique for Grapevine Wreaths
I love the floral bundle technique on a rustic grapevine wreath because it’s so versatile. You can easily remove the florals and replace the bundle, allowing you to change the look for different seasons or events. This simple method saves time and money, and it keeps your wreath looking fresh and ready for any occasion.
