Crafting a Lantern Topper to Match the Mantlepiece

I wanted to create a fall lantern topper to match the gorgeous mantelpiece that Dona Mullins, On a Whimm Wreaths & Decor created in a workshop at Trendy Tree a couple of weeks ago. All the products used in the arrangements came from Trendy Tree.

Dona also created a matching wall basket so now all I needed was a topper for my lantern to bring the fireplace and mantel together.

The soft fall colors of sage, cream, and mauve blended perfectly with my decor. I used leftover floral picks and sprays to make a simple lantern topper that easily tied everything together.

I didn’t have a piece of every product that Dona used in the mantelpiece and door arrangement, but there was enough to make the three pieces blend. This is a good example of saving every little twig, even when you think you’ll never have a use for them))

The ribbons were also leftover from another project.

A Refreshing Twist on Fall Decor with Sage, Cream, and Mauve

The soft shades of sage, cream, and mauve used in the fall lantern topper, mantelpiece, and wall basket, have been such a refreshing break from the traditional fall colors of orange, rust, and brown. They bring a calming, elegant vibe to my decor while still capturing the warmth of the season. This unique color palette has added a fresh twist to my fall decorations, making the space feel both cozy and sophisticated. It’s a subtle but beautiful way to embrace autumn!

Speaking of autumn is just two days away! You wouldn’t know it from the Mississippi heat, but those cool, crisp mornings are surely on their way!
