Exploring Sage, Blush, and Mauve for a New Twist on Fall Decor
This year, I decided to try something new with my fall decor by incorporating soft, elegant colors like sage, blush, and mauve. I’ve never used this palette before, but it brings such a fresh and calming vibe to my space, offering a nice change from the traditional autumn tones. These soft hues blend beautifully with the metallic accents from magnolia sprays and blush pumpkins, giving my mantel and front door a modern yet cozy feel for the season. It’s been a fun experiment, and I love how it turned out!
Oops!
Let me back up a bit. I didn’t create these arrangements! My contribution was selecting the colors with Carrie’s help. Dona Mullins from On a Whimm Wreath & Deco by Dona, came to Trendy Tree a couple of weeks ago and teamed up with Cody Hanshew, How I See It. They did a fantastic virtual workshop making several fall, Christmas, and winter pieces. I was just lucky enough to take home these gorgeous sage and blush fall decor items!
Starting with the Mantel: A Sage and Blush Fall Transformation
Dona created the mantelpiece in a 48″ narrow white-washed wooden dough bowl I already had. This helped to make the design portable. Now I can use it on my dining table or mantel.
Let me be the first to say, that the images do not do this centerpiece justice! Plus, it’s just really hard to photograph a mantel!
The sage green pumpkins on either end of the mantel are some that I covered with a velvety fabric from Hobby Lobby. And I had some blush material to use too, but we don’t know what happened to it! Can’t find it anywhere! Does that ever happen to you? I sure hope I’m not the only one.😳
The pumpkin picks are listed as beige, but when paired with the soft pinks of the mauve and sage green, they take on a lovely blush hue—so I’m calling them blush! One of my favorite elements in the mantelpiece is the Metallic Magnolia leaves, which feature a stunning mix of sage, champagne, and green with varied textures. They’re truly phenomenal! Another standout is the natural wooden berry pick, a new item from Trendy Tree this year, which adds a unique and eye-catching dimension to the arrangement.
There’s some debate on how to pronounce “peonies.” Many say “pee-uh-nees”, while others prefer “pea-on-nees.” Both are commonly accepted, and the variation often depends on regional accents. No matter how you say it, these flowers are always beautiful! How do you pronounce it?
A Beautiful Blend: Sage and Blush Fall Wall Basket for the Front Door
The wall basket decor blends seamlessly with the mantelpiece, sharing the same soft tones of sage, blush, and mauve. Using elements like blush pumpkins, magnolia leaves, and wooden berry picks, it creates a cohesive look from the front door to the living space. This simple coordination ties both areas together, adding a warm and inviting touch. I love my sage and blush fall decor)))
