Dollar Tree Fall Signs with Trendy Tree Florals & Ribbon
I made a haul the other day at our newly opened Dollar Tree—you may have seen that blog post. Out of everything I picked up, the Dollar Tree fall signs caught my eye first. To give them a little makeover, I made a quick trip to Trendy Tree where I found a couple of pretty fall florals and pulled out some leftover ribbon from Carrie’s stash. In this post, I’ll share a couple of videos with you: the first is an overview of the supplies I gathered for both the fall signs and the Halloween pumpkin signs, and the second shows how I decorated the fall signs step by step.

The Tutorial
Making It Work with What You Have
Everything doesn’t always go quite like you plan! After I made the topper for the Dollar Tree fall sign, I first tried attaching it with just staples. But the florals and bow covered up too much of the wording on the sign.
So, I improvised. I needed something that would extend above the sign so the bow could sit higher. A paint stick or even a couple of tongue blades would have worked perfectly—but I didn’t have either on hand.
What I did have was a wooden 12″ ruler. I cut it in half, stapled it to the back of the sign with about 3″ sticking out above, and it gave me the perfect spot to secure the bow without hiding the writing.
The only problem? My ruler was hot pink! To fix that, I wrapped it in jute string so it would blend in—and it worked beautifully. Sometimes it really does pay to be resourceful.
Finding the Perfect Spot
Once again, my plans changed. My original idea was to hang the Dollar Tree fall signs on my side doors.
But after I dressed them up with florals and ribbon, I decided they were just too cute to stay outside.
One sign found a new home on a bookcase.
And the other brightened up my kitchen.
Sometimes projects have a way of telling you where they belong!
