Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign Makeover from Trendy Tree

Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign Makeover with a black and orange Halloween floral and ribbon from Trendy Tree

Sometimes the simplest projects turn out to be the most fun—like this Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign Makeover. The sign itself was a very inexpensive find, made from thin MDF, so I’m not expecting it to last more than one season—and that’s perfectly fine for my purposes! It’s not something you’d want to use if you’re creating wreaths or door hangers to sell, but for a quick personal project, it works great. I dressed mine up with Trendy Tree ribbon and florals, using a few Halloween ribbons from Carrie’s stash at the warehouse. In no time, this plain Dollar Tree piece turned into a cute Halloween door hanger that adds just the right seasonal touch.

For this Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign Makeover, I kept things simple and used what I already had on hand:

It’s amazing what you can pull together with a few odds and ends—sometimes those leftover ribbons from other projects are the most fun to work with!

🪄 The Process

Staple two craft sticks to the back of the sign near the top to attach the bow. This way it does’t cover up too much of the top pumpkin. Take the black and orange floral spray apart and separate it into smaller segments. One floral bush should provide enough pieces for two signs.

Make a bow using the EZ Bowmaker, occasionally layering in a piece of the floral for texture and color. Secure the bow to the craft sticks and fluff the loops until everything looks balanced and full.

If you’d like to see how I made the bow step by step, I filmed a short video tutorial to go along with this project—it’s linked below! 🎥

You’ll see how I mixed in bits of floral as I layered the ribbons—it’s a fun way to give the bow a little extra Halloween flair without much effort.

🎃 Finishing Touches

And that’s it—a quick and easy Dollar Tree Pumpkin Sign Makeover! It’s the perfect example of how a few leftover ribbons and a floral pick can transform a plain, inexpensive sign into cute Halloween door decor. Sometimes the simplest crafts really are the most satisfying!
