My Husband Cooks Breakfast

breakfast with bacon, eggs, and toast
Not my husband’s breakfast…..I would have to get up EARLY to get a pic!

My husband cooks breakfast. He didn’t always do it, I used to make breakfast….on weekends. Back in the old days, he left for work at 5:30 am and I left around 7:30 am, we were each on our own for food.

But, as we’ve grown older, he gets up every morning and fixes breakfast for himself. I mean…he’s up by 4:00 and finished eating by 5:00….I’m sleeping. He typically wakes me up around 7:00 as he’s heading out to the golf course and I lounge around in bed for 30-45 min catching up email and looking at my phone.

When my husband cooks breakfast if he’s having bacon or sausage, he will cook it on the back porch outdoor kitchen which is nice. The house doesn’t smell of bacon or sausage all day. He knows I only eat a light breakfast like toast and fruit, sometimes an egg or yogurt. But if he has extra bacon, sausage, or ham left over, he will leave a piece or two on the kitchen counter just in case I want it.

Breakfast this Morning

It’s a typical morning. He woke me up saying he was leaving for the golf course. I do my usual lazy morning ritual and take my time getting up. When I went into the kitchen I saw he had left me a bit of breakfast on the island.

husband cooks breakfast left me a half piece of toast

Yes, you’re right….a half piece of toast….lol

I couldn’t help but laugh….I guess that’s what I get for complaining about my weight inching up lately!

Yogurt Parfait

So, I had my yogurt parfait, sat on the porch with Browser, and enjoyed the morning sunshine.

What’s that you say? Did I eat it? Why yes I did…….and it was a butt!

  1. Oh the joys of the retired life. I’m not much of a breakfast eater so when I get up around 6:00-6:30, I immediately start my coffee. After my first cup I do a quick sweeping of the floors. With three dogs it’s an endless battle against fur balls. I battle I often lose.
My husband gets up around 10:00. I usually get him breakfast before 11:00. He’s the typical bacon or spam and eggs guy. When I think of all the times of him working 12 plus hours a day and I did the typical 8 hours, I am so grateful we now have time to enjoy each other’s company.
I am blessed to have a loving husband, two grown daughters and a grandson. Life is good, God is good all the time.
