Simple Holiday Decorations: Bowls, Baubles, and Tiny Lights
Simple holiday decorations can make your home feel warm and festive without much effort. I’ve always loved using greens, red berries, and candles on my coffee table, but this year, I wanted to try something different.
A dear friend gave me a beautiful glass bowl with a gold stand—a piece of hers I’ve admired for years. I filled it with glass baubles, added tiny lights, and it turned out beautifully. Here’s how you can create this easy and elegant holiday centerpiece.
Supplies You’ll Need
- Clear Glass Container: A bowl, vase, or any clear glass piece you have at home will work beautifully.
- Glass or Shiny Balls: Use clear glass balls or shiny ornaments— shiny plastic ones work too. The reflective surface enhances the glow and adds a magical touch as the lights bounce off the surfaces.
- Tiny Battery-Powered Lights: Choose lights on a thin silver or gold wire with a small battery pack. These are easy to arrange and the battery pack can be tucked out of sight for a seamless look.
The key to this decoration is how the light reflects on the shiny or clear surfaces of the ornaments, creating a soft, glowing effect that fills the room with warmth and holiday charm.
Invest in Quality Lights
Cheap wire lights can be frustrating and often don’t last through the season. It’s worth spending a little more on better-quality lights you can rely on. When I take down my decorations, I remove the batteries and store them with the lights in a zip-lock bag. This keeps everything organized for the next occasion. Alkaline batteries usually last longer than the season, depending on how much use they get. I try to make sure to use them up before throwing them away. Quality lights and good storage make holiday decorating so much easier!
A Touch of Simple Elegance
Creating simple holiday decorations doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. With a few simple touches—like tiny lights, shiny baubles, and a favorite container—you can add warmth and beauty to your home for the season. Whether it’s a special gift from a friend or something you already own, these simple projects add joy and a special touch to your home. Embrace the magic of the season with decorations that are easy to create, meaningful, and beautifully elegant.
