Vintage Paper Christmas Decorations: Beautiful Fold-Out Nostalgia
Vintage Paper Christmas Decorations: A Nostalgic Holiday Comeback
While at the Dallas market in January, I was thrilled to see vintage paper Christmas decorations like fold-out tabletop trees, balls, finials, and bells. These old-fashioned pieces remind me of my grandmother’s holiday decorations from the 1950s—her red tissue paper bell hanging over the dining table, the red and green foil garland she draped over the windows, and the silver icicles she reused year after year. These charming, nostalgic accents are a beautiful way to bring a bit of history into your holiday décor.

Feeling Crafty? Here’s a Sneak Peek at My Upcoming Cardstock Trees!
Are you feeling crafty? I’ve been working on a fun project—making Christmas trees out of cardstock. I recently picked up some gorgeous color papers from Hobby Lobby, along with fine glitter and glue for extra sparkle. While I’m still perfecting the pattern using my long-neglected Cricut, I’ll be sharing the full project in a few days. Stay tuned for all the details!
If you’re interested in trying your hand at making fold-out vintage paper Christmas decorations, there are several great tutorials on YouTube to help you get started. One of my favorites is from Gift Wrapping Love, who offers a range of helpful videos. She even provides free templates for some of the projects, with more available in her Etsy shop at a very reasonable price. It’s a wonderful resource if you’re feeling crafty and want to recreate that nostalgic, old-fashioned holiday charm at home!
Etsy is also another place that has tons of vintage paper Christmas decorations. Some are originals from many years back, and others are brand new. Etsy is a great place to shop if you haven’t tried it yet.
Thank you very much for the beautifull ideas.

PS…will be looking for your up-coming cardstock trees!
It calls for a trip to Hobby Lobby)))
Hi! I love vintage Christmas paper decorations…any season as well! A few years ago, I bought some new “fold out” Christmas bells, tree, and a Santa Clause. Also have paper fold out halloween cats, and paper fold out thanksgiving turkeys, and a cute little paper stork. I love paper decorations! Thanks for sharing!!
I’ve never had any for myself that I can remember, but I do remember my gradmothers))) I wonder how many years she used them…..I can’t wait to try making some trees. They will be made out of cardstock versus tissue paper so we’ll see)))
