Patriotic Twig Cross: A Simple DIY for Memorial Day Decor
A patriotic twig cross is a great way to give new life to something you already have. This one used to be my Easter cross, dressed up with a soft purple ribbon and a dogwood spray. But with Memorial Day and the Fourth of July coming up, I wanted something with a little more red, white, and blue. One reason I try to avoid using hot glue on florals is because I love to repurpose them later. It just makes it easier to change things up with the seasons. That dogwood spray is going right back into my stash for another project down the road!

Supplies and Substitutions
I’ve had this twig cross for quite a while now, and it’s been redecorated more times than I can count! The red, white, and blue poppy spray I used this time came from Trendy Tree, but it looks like that particular one is sold out at the moment. No worries though—there’s a smaller version available, and using two of those would work just as well. As for ribbon, Trendy Tree has a great selection of patriotic styles to choose from. Just browse around and pick something that suits your style. I’ve also included the link to their floral picks to make it easy!

Why Small Seasonal Projects Just Work
Small projects like this patriotic twig cross are one of my favorite ways to add a little seasonal touch around the house—without going all out on a wreath, centerpiece, or full mantel display. It’s quick, simple, and still makes an impact. I love using pieces I can repurpose, like this twig cross or a good old grapevine wreath. A few new florals and a fresh ribbon are usually all it takes to give them a brand new look. I paired this one with a folded flag for a meaningful accent, and I love how it turned out—simple, sentimental, and just right for the season.
