Pewter Measuring Cups & Spoons
Update
I’m reposting this blog since Mother’s Day will be here soon and I just wanted to let you know how much I have loved my Paula Deen pewter measuring cups and spoons. They hang on the stand so they are ready at a moment’s notice and you don’t have to hunt for them! I would say the only downside is that you can’t put them in the dishwasher, but that’s really no biggie. Anyway….they make a great gift)))
Mother’s Day (2022)
This Mother’s Day Carrie and David gifted me with pewter measuring cups and spoons on a stand from the Paula Deen Store!
I love it! Carrie and the family were out of town on Mother’s Day this year, so my husband and I spent the day alone. No biggie, we don’t make a big deal out of holidays or gifts. If it works out where we are all together fine, and if it doesn’t we don’t fret about it because we see each other all the time))) For moms whose children and grandchildren are scattered all across the country, I feel for you!
Pewter
Well, anyway, how the pewter measuring cups and spoons all came about was that I saw Paula Deen on one of her cooking shows. Now, we all love Paula Deen and her recipes. Butter and all! We eat at one of her restaurants any chance we get))) It probably shows on us too.😳
During this cooking episode, she used the neatest measuring cups and spoons that were on a stand. I fell in love with them! I thought how great! If you are like me and have stainless steel or plastic cups and spoons on a ring…..well you know how aggravating and messy they are! If you use one of the cups for liquid, then need another cup for something else, the liquid drips out of the used cup.
Maybe I’ve been doing it all wrong, but you use one cup and then you have to lay them out just right in the dishwasher to get them clean. Same with the measuring spoons on a ring. Goodness knows if you take them apart you will never find them! Not in my kitchen anyway.
Kitchen Counter
Ever since we downsized, decluttered, and moved into a smaller home, I really like to keep my countertops free of a lot of stuff. It really makes it easier to keep the kitchen clean too! So, no more canisters on the countertop, etc.
But, I had the perfect place to put the pewter measuring cups and spoons. It fits just right beside the stove and will be so handy anytime I need to use them!
Each of the cups and spoons is marked with the measurement. They are made out of hammered pewter and have a lifetime warranty. They do have to be hand-washed, but that won’t be a problem for me. The USA manufacturing company is Crosby & Taylor. Another plus! An heirloom that can be passed down and made in the USA too!
Crosby & Taylor
I had explored the pewter measuring cups and spoons on the Crosby & Taylor website but wasn’t able to locate the pattern of my gift. I was just curious to know what the pattern was, in case there might be other products to match it or something. No luck, I couldn’t locate it.
Carrie said she bought it through the Paula Deen Store and not on Amazon where I thought she had. So I wound up calling the Paula Deen Store just to ask what the pattern was. The lady was so nice! She had a Southern accent, like me, so I’m guessing the business is located in Georgia.
Anyway, I told her I was just curious to know what the Crosby & Taylor pattern was, and she said it was made especially for Paula Deen. I told her it had a little hand-held mirror and a couple of flowers on the pieces.
She said “I think that’s a little skillet and not a mirror”….lol. We both laughed and I said well that makes perfect sense! How could I have missed that…..now that I see the enlarged image I took…..yep….that’s a skillet and not a mirror. 😂😂😂
So I don’t suppose you will find this particular pattern anywhere but the Paula Deen Store. But Crosby & Taylor have several different patterns to choose from like a fish, bird, Celtic, Fleur De Lis (perfect if you live in Louisiana), heart, vineyard, Roman, dragonfly, honeybee, and probably more! Great gifts for anyone who loves cooking. I added a few of the patterns to my Amazon Store if you would like to browse.
Hidden Feature
If I hadn’t been looking for the pattern, I probably never would have noticed the very top of the stand.
Doesn’t that sound just like Paula Deen))
Gift Idea
So, if you’re in need of a keepsake gift for someone (or yourself), you can’t go wrong with a pewter measuring cup and stand set. Made in the USA, lifetime guarantee, and what a nice heirloom to pass down through the years. Not to count, what a beautiful, convenient way to get your measuring done in the kitchen!
Hey….maybe Carrie had this in mind with the thought that it would be hers or Maggie’s someday))) Well, that’s fine too)) I’ve never been much on expensive jewelry or anything so I really don’t have much in that way to leave them! Keepsakes don’t always have to have monetary value, but something made of metal is more likely to withstand the years. I hope someone uses it for years to come after I’m long gone)))
Here’s another gift idea….my favorite perfume and I think you would love it too!
light and fresh
Light Blue Perfume
I’ve always been picky as far as fragrances are concerned. Isn’t everybody though? You won’t find bottles and bottles of different fragrances in my bathroom, only one. I’m a steady girl when it comes to perfumes. I only want one at a time.
