Retro Refreshment: Hippie Juice Loaded Tea

Carrie and Maggie sipping on Hippie Juice loaded teas.

One of the things I love most about retirement is the freedom to drop everything and make a delivery run — especially when it involves loaded teas! It gets pretty warm in the Trendy Tree warehouse (trust me, I remember those days!), so surprising Carrie and Maggie with a cold “Hippie Juice” is my favorite way to brighten their afternoon. This cheerful orange drink looks like sunshine in a cup and has just enough caffeine to keep things moving — from packing and processing orders to pressing signs, unpacking shipments, and restocking shelves. Sharing a little boost like this always feels like sharing a little joy, too

What is Hippie Juice?

Hippie Juice is a loaded tea recipe I found through Silver Lining Lessons, my go-to source for making loaded teas at home for just pennies on the dollar. It’s a refreshing blend of orange, piña colada, pink lemonade, pineapple, and watermelon — what a combination! Not too many flavors left, right? 🍊🍍🍉

Of course, it’s got an extra caffeine kick from green tea and guarana powder, with 4C Orange Energy Drink Mix as the base. You can grab the complete recipe over at Silver Lining Lessons. Or, if you prefer something lighter, just skip the green tea and guarana powder and enjoy it as a flavored water instead!

Make Life Easier with These Tea Essentials

Once you’ve got your flavors ready, you’ll need a few handy tools to mix and serve your Hippie Juice. And just to give you an idea of how much I love making loaded teas — I’m already on my third order of 32-ounce disposable cups from Amazon! That should tell you how many teas I’ve whipped up this summer for myself, Carrie, and the grands.

A few of my favorite supplies:

  • Magnetic measuring spoons  – So handy when you’re mixing multiple flavors. They’re color-coded and magnetic, which keeps everything together in one neat stack.
  • 32 Ounce plastic drink cups with screw on lid and straw – A reusable set that’s perfect for my “everyday” teas. The straws are sturdy and hold up beautifully. I don’t let these leave the house!
  • Disposable 32 oz cups with straws and lids – Ideal for “tea-to-go” days, especially when the grandkids stop to grab a tea to go!
  • Waka assorted teas and guarana powder  – My go-to base ingredients for loaded teas at home. I started using Waka green tea when I first began making these, and it still works like a charm!
  • Mini Whisk – Helps in getting the powders to dissolve
  • 32 oz Cup Carrier – Must have if you are in the “delivery” business like me))) Carrie ordered this one for me….go figure…lol I think that was a hint so I could run teas to the shop!
  • 2-Cup Measuring Cup with Ounces -This is my go-to for measuring water or tea bases. Having the ounce markings makes it super easy to follow loaded tea recipes without guessing.
