Easy Christmas Wreath Update: Magnolia Wreath Refresh

Updated Magnolia wreath with simple bow using Christmas ribbons

Evergreen wreaths are some of the most versatile pieces you can use for year-round decorating, and this simple magnolia wreath is a perfect example. It was a fairly inexpensive Walmart purchase—I actually bought three—and I’ve used them in different spots around our home for several years now. Wreaths made of magnolia, boxwood, or tea leaf are ideal because you can give them a fresh seasonal look just by swapping out the bow or adding a small floral accent. I usually hang all three magnolia wreaths on our back porch, but this year I decided to use two at the side entrance and refresh one of them with a simple three-ribbon bow made from leftover Trendy Tree ribbon.

Magnolia Wreath Options

I haven’t been able to find the exact magnolia wreath I bought from Walmart years ago, but I did see several similar styles that would work just as well for year-round decorating. I’ll post a couple of links below if you’re looking for something comparable.

Ribbon Choices

I used leftover ribbon from my stash for this bow. All of my ribbon comes from Trendy Tree, and while some of the exact styles I used may no longer be in stock, they have hundreds to choose from in every color and pattern you can imagine. You’ll also notice I didn’t have quite enough of the 7/8″ green ribbon for my second bow and had to substitute another style. But honestly, finishing off a roll always feels like a win. If you ever saw my ribbon “stash,” you’d understand why!

Wrapping Up

I usually have my holiday decorations in better order than I do this year… I’m definitely a little late to the party. But that’s the beauty of a simple wreath refresh—sometimes one new bow is all it takes. What about you? Do you decorate before Thanksgiving or wait until afterward? I’d love to hear!
