Four Twig Cross Styles and the Case for Not Using Hot Glue

Over the years, I’ve decorated the same twig cross several different ways—changing it up with florals, ribbon, and seasonal touches instead of starting from scratch each time. In this post, I’m sharing four different styles, with links to the tutorials for each one. It’s also a good example of why I rarely use hot glue on pieces I make for myself—it keeps things flexible, reusable, and a whole lot easier to update.
Spring or Easter
If you love easy, rustic décor with a personal touch, this DIY twig cross wreath is a simple project that brings natural texture and meaningful style to your home — perfect for any season or decor change.
Dogwood for Easter
Dogwood just speaks Easter to me. This design was simple and I only used one dogwood spray and some purple ribbon.
July 4th and Memorial Day
Actually, any day is good for a Patriotic display. I decorated the cross to use on my front door for a while, and then I just added a bow and used it on a table for Memorial Day. I received the flag when my dad died a few years ago.
Before the Snowpocalypse Hits Mississippi…
I just noticed that Trendy Tree has received another shipment of the twig cross, and it should be back on the website in the next day or two. Meanwhile, we’re bracing for a rare Mississippi winter event—snow and ice—which apparently means grocery store and Walmart shelves are already being cleared out. I don’t know about you, but in our household of two, we’re prepared with enough food, water, and batteries to last us well into spring… possibly summer 😄.
